Overview

This briefing provides an understanding of the nature and value of the MoV method that will enable delegates to assess its use and application in different environments. They will also be able to understand how best to introduce MoV, liaise more effectively with programme and project management and business analysis personnel and, for organisations already using MoV, to determine how well it has been implemented and supported to date.

Course Objectives

At the end of this briefing delegates will be able to:

• Describe value in a consistent manner
• Understand what they need to do to introduce MoV into their organisations and reap resultant rewards
• Explain how to identify and articulate an organisation's value priorities and translate these into effective programmes and projects to deliver strategic goals in the most resource-efficient manner
• Enable organisations to maximise value, taking account of differing stakeholders' needs, the organisation's value priorities and end users' requirements within the constraints of the operating environment

• Those involved in directing, managing, supporting and delivering portfolios, programmes and projects including senior managers, programme and project managers, change managers, and programme and project office staff, and their sponsors.
• Risk managers who must identify and manage opportunities effectively.

The briefing will cover the following topics at an Executive level:

• Introduce MoV and its origins, and describe how it can be used to manage value deliberately.
• Consider the principles of value management, and provide an overview of the integrated elements of MoV – its processes and techniques, and associated terminology.
• Show how MoV provides support and guidance on maximising return on investment, customer satisfaction, risk management, and people's contribution.
• Show how MoV complements other guidance such as PRINCE2, MSP, MoP, risk management and P3O.
• Discuss implementation considerations.
• Ongoing management of the method.
