Overview

Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) is a robust programme management method. MSP introduced the role of Business Change Manager (BCM), as the key agent in effecting organisational change. MSP also refers to supporting roles such as Business Change Authority and Benefits Realisation Manager. This course provides an induction into these roles, and positions the roles in the broader context of organisational change management.

Course Objectives

To give delegates an insight into the key concepts behind the MSP programme management method and provide guidance on how to act as a Business Change Manager.

Who Should Attend

Staff working in a project environment and perhaps reporting to a project manager but not managing projects.

Course Content

The Course will cover the following topics:

• Introduce MSP and its origins, describe its domain of applicability, and outline the value it brings to organisations.
• Position MSP in the context of organisational change management and describe the ‘soft’ aspects of organisational change;
• Provide an overview of the integrated elements of MSP – the governance themes, transformational flow and associated terminology.
• Describe the roles of Business Change Manager (BCM), Business Change Authority and Benefits Realisation Manager, and their responsibilities across the transformational flow of an MSP programme.
• Introduce tools and techniques to assist the BCM in contributing to the programme’s Blueprint, in defining the benefits associated with achievement of this Blueprint, and in developing plans for transitioning new capabilities into operational use.
• Describe the BCM's role in ensuring that the benefits promised by the programme are realistic, and that all relevant factors are taken into account in planning transition and benefits realisation.

Exam

This course does not lead to formal accreditation. There is no exam associated with this briefing.
